Started in 1987, Thirsk Rotary Club began presenting an award to each of the primary schools in our community. 

The award is made to a Year 6 pupil as part of The Leavers Assembly to the pupil who this year, in the eyes of the school staff, has made the greatest contribution to the life and wellbeing of the school and its pupils. Not necessarily an award for academic achievement or sporting prowess, but a recognition by the staff of personal achievement.

Each participating primary school has a large shield on which each years winner’s name is engraved.  

In addition each winner is given a miniature engraved shield to keep with a personalised certificate and a book token for £25 for them to choose their own prize.

This year we’re delighted that 12 primary schools in our local area were involved.
